NOW HIRING: The Acadia Parish Police Jury is now accepting applications at the Crowley Job Center, 11 North Parkerson Street, Crowley, LA, until 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 11, 2007 for the following position:

RECEPTIONIST / TECHNICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT

General requirements would include, but are not limited to: high school diploma or GED with courses in typing and general office equipment and computer technology or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Some benefits include paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, group health insurance and retirement.

JOB DESCRIPTION
 

RECEPTIONIST/TECHNICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT

NATURE OF WORK

Under general supervision, is responsible for receptionist and clerical work of routine difficulty. Will be required to do regular data entry and enhance office efficiency through technological skills as well as perform related work as required.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

The absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment of the position.)

Receives visitors and answers to incoming calls by taking messages, answering questions and re-directing calls. Distributes mail. Types letters, forms, tabulations, statements, memorandums, narrative and statistical reports and similar materials from plain copy or rough draft by using computer, typewriter, adding machine and reproduction equipment. Other duties will include data entry and filing. Assist other employees and perform other duties as assigned.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Good computer, typing and organizational skills; knowledge of standard office equipment including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and ten key calculator; good verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, elected officials and outside agencies; ability to learn and comprehend established office routines and policies from oral and written instructions; Knowledge of telephone etiquette.

REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED with courses in typing and general office equipment and computer technology or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

NOW HIRING: The Acadia Parish Police Jury is now accepting applications at the Crowley Job Center, 11 North Parkerson Street, Crowley, LA, until 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 29, 2007 for the following positions:

2 CDL TRUCK DRIVERS
Location - Branch Barn; Starting pay $8.50

Applicants should have knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing specialized construction and maintenance equipment. Must possess a valid Louisiana Drivers License or Class A or B CDL. Some benefits include paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, group health insurance and retirement.

Obtain an Application

Applications are accepted for all positions.  Resumes are not accepted in lieu
of an application; however, resumes may be included with the employment
application.

Submitting Your Application

Applications must be completed in accordance with directions.  Misrepresent-
ation and incomplete or inaccurate information may cause application
rejection, removal from the employment pool, or discharge from Parish
employment.

Status of Your Application

Applications submitted to the Acadia Parish Police Jury remain active and on
file for six months and are available for updating by the applicant during this
period.  If after that time period you have not received notification of your
application status, you may call our office at (337) 788-8800, to re-activate
your application for another six months.

Hiring Process

All applications are available for review by other departments when openings
become available.

All job offers to applicants will be conditioned upon successful completion
of various pre-employment tests and/or physical examination.
